Dr Anders Mellbourn is a retired journalist and political scientist in Stockholm, Sweden, with a 50 year experience in leading media, research and education.
A political scientist by training, he is a former Editor-in-Chief (1995-1997) of Dagens Nyheter, the leading morning daily in Sweden, where in all he spent more than 20 years in a variety of positions from the mid 1970´s to the late 90´s.
He was Director of the Swedish Institute of International Affairs, UI, 1997-2004 and chairman of the STINT Foundation (The Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education), 2000-2005. He has served as adjunct and guest professor at Halmstad, Södertörn and Stockholm universities. In 2013 and 2014 he was chair of the department of Media studies, Stockholm university.
His books and contributions to edited volumes are primarily on public administration, constitutional and political culture, international conflict prevention, religion in conflict and news management. He has been a regular commentator on public and international affairs in various Swedish media and is a member of different bodies in the media and research communitites.
